In many ways, polo isn’t just a sport for the Wade family - it’s part of who they are. Brothers Ethan and Joe Wade have grown up with horses and the rhythm of the game woven into everyday life, and today that connection continues to shape their futures.

Ethan, 24, works as a structural engineer with LM Structural in Newmarket, balancing a busy professional career with a strong commitment to polo. His younger brother Joe, 18, is currently in Florida, pursuing his dream of becoming a professional player - an opportunity that reflects both his dedication and talent. Both brothers have been riding since they were very young and began playing polo around the age of 11 or 12. What started as a natural extension of growing up around horses soon became something more serious, with the pair developing their skills through seasons of polo in New Zealand and overseas.

This past season was a special one for the family. The brothers played for The Polo Collective, a team focused on making the sport more accessible and welcoming. By encouraging supporters to feel part of the journey, the team is helping build a stronger sense of community around polo. Their season reached a memorable high when they won the Milford NZ 6-Goal Polo Open. The achievement was made even more meaningful as they played alongside their father, Jonny, a retired professional. He described the win with his two sons as one of the highlights of his career.

It’s a story not just of success, but of family and shared passion. While the brothers admit to normal sibling rivalry off the field, once the game begins, they are completely in sync - a reflection of years spent playing side by side. For the local community, their journey is a proud reminder of where dedication and strong family support can lead.
