Shaping the Future of Clevedon’s Mainstreet
Clevedon’s mainstreet is entering an exciting period of change, with new developments, infrastructure improvements and community projects set to shape the heart of our village over the coming years.
The Clevedon Association is taking a proactive approach through its Mainstreet Programme, working with landowners, businesses, public agencies and the community to help guide this change while retaining Clevedon’s distinctive rural village character.
Building on the 2018 Clevedon Village Design Framework, the programme aims to create a compact, walkable and vibrant village centre that serves residents, businesses and visitors.
What's planned for the mainstreet?
A number of private developments are progressing through planning and resource consent processes, including proposals for a new Four Square, church facilities, townhouses, an early learning centre and a restaurant.
Alongside these developments, the Association is advocating for improvements to pedestrian safety, traffic speeds, parking, public spaces and connections between properties, as well as opportunities to underground power lines.
The focus is not just on individual projects, but on how they can work together to create an attractive, well-connected and thriving mainstreet.
Working together for better outcomes
Of the 20 private landowners within the mainstreet business zone, 17 have shared information about their future plans. The Association is also engaging with Auckland Council, the Franklin Local Board and infrastructure providers to better understand upcoming works and identify opportunities for coordination and investment.
This collaborative approach helps ensure that development contributes positively to the village and that opportunities for improvements are not missed.

To keep the community informed, the Clevedon Association has developed two resources:
Mainstreet Development Timetable – a multi-year overview of known and proposed projects, showing when works may take place.
Mainstreet Project Map – showing the location of planned developments, infrastructure projects and smaller village improvements.
These resources will be updated as projects progress. Some works are already underway or being planned, while others remain longer-term aspirations that are not yet funded or scheduled.

Clevedon's mainstreet has evolved for more than 170 years and will continue to change.
