Transpower Preliminary construction work

Preliminary construction work will begin later this month for the new 186 km, 400 kV capable, overhead transmission line in, and around, the Clevedon area.

This preliminary construction activity includes building access tracks (on individual properties) vegetation clearing and building/upgrading fences and temporary races to a small number of sites. Transpower anticipate completing this work by the end of July, (weather permitting).

The majority of construction activity in the Clevedon area will begin in September this year. Transpower will be talking further with the community prior to this construction starting.

The expected start dates for construction include:

June/July – construction of a small number of access tracks

September 2011 – access tracks work resumes. Foundation construction undertaken

October 2011 – tower assembly and erection.
