Puriri Hills Vineyard & Lodge

Puriri Hills Vineyard makes red wines inspired by the Bordeaux greats of Pomerol and St. Emilion.  The wines are blends of merlot, carmenère, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and malbec.  All grapes are grown and hand-tended and the wine hand-made on the property. The five acres of vineyards are set on high, sloping river terraces overlooking the Wairoa River and the Hauraki Gulf.  

Bob Campbell MW awarded our 2005 Reserve the top rank among NZ Bordeaux blends - 97 points - in Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine (Aug 07).  Joelle Thomson named Puriri Hills one of the top five new New Zealand wineries in the New Zealand Herald (May 2006).  Michael Cooper gave Puriri Hills Reserves 5 stars and Classic Vineyard designation in his 2010 Buyers Guide to New Zealand Wines.  John Hawkesby said in Canvas (29/3/08) “grab it at a reasonable price before it’s deified by the media…”

Our wines are available locally from Ciao Bella, Karaka Country Market or from the vineyard. Our cellar door is open for tastings and sales 11 to 4 most Saturdays and Sundays, or by appointment. Puriri Hills Lodge offers bed and breakfast in our luxury suite accommodating 2-6. ($500 + GST per day).
