Clevedon Scenic Reserve Kauri at Risk
Submitted by Robynne Sutton on October 6th, 2011
Clevedon Scenic Reserve and the Hunua Ranges are an important sanctuary for kauri in the Auckland region. Kauri dieback disease is killing kauri trees in many areas of Auckland, but so far the kauri in Clevedon Scenic Reserve remain healthy.
To help keep Kauri free from disease, barriers are being installed along the track where track users are leaving the main track or using the old track.
What can you do?
- Make sure your shoes and equipment are clean of dirt before every visit
- Keep to the main track
- Stay away from kauri tree roots
- Keep your dog on a lead
